CAMERA OBSCURA
Well, sort of.
I used the DVD a neighbor was also using to capture this shot of yesterday's partial eclipse.
TRIBUTE
I was a little stunned to hear of another loss from the disco era.
Robin Gibb, one third of the 70's much-loved AND much-maligned group The Bee Gees, passed away yesterday.
I'll just say what I said when I posted this song on my Facebook page yesterday:
"I absolutely adore this song!"
So long, Robin. You did good.

BEST COAST
Here are a few things I observed at the Best Coast concert last night:
- There are a lot of short women out there - Seriously, I felt like I was surrounded by a bunch of Oompa Loompas
- The Oakland Fox Theater is still my favorite concert venue in the Bay Area
- That, to my happy relief, I wasn't the oldest person in the room - although I'm sure just my presence alone raised the median age to about 31
- Lead singer Bethany Cosentino is an AWESOME live performer - Her cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic Storms was absolutely moving!
Great show.
TUNNEL OF LOVE
I got to enjoy my first ride on the newly-completed southbound direction of the Presidio Parkway yesterday, and I have to say it was pretty damn cool.
The project is set to be completed sometime in 2015.

LOST

| pictures are from a lovely redwood grove on the amusingly-named Stalker Trail, where we thought our last moments alive would be spent. |
I hadn't set foot on Mount Tamalpais since the 70's, so it was with great excitement that I accepted an invite from former office mate and fellow (occasional) blogger Ryan for a hike yesterday afternoon.
Of course, city mice that we are, we managed to get lost pretty quickly. So while Ryan called his friend Joe, who googled directions for us, I took a few of what I thought might be the last pictures I would ever take.
Pretty nice, huh?
