"Young people today would be in it for the money, whereas in the old days, it was for the rebellion"
-- Andrea True, Porn Star and disco singer
Although the San Fernando Valley is now "Ground Zero" for the porn industry, its roots are deep in San Francisco, and The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is paying homage with its exhibit "Smut Capital of America."
Say what you want about porn, but there is something almost charming about what was produced in the 1970's, the era featured in the YBCA's exhibition. Some of them were made with fairly decent production values, as the belief was that porn and mainstream films were going to merge.
Put on your raincoat, this is definitely something worth checking out.
