When retailer JCPenney announced that comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres would be their new spokesperson, the so-called Christian organization OneMillionMoms had this to say:
"DeGeneres is not a true representation of the type of families that shop at their store. The majority of JC Penney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there."
An email sent out yesterday by the venerable retailer addressed the issue by simply stating it "Stands behind its partnership with Ellen DeGeneres."
Well played, Penney's, very well played.
