She wasn't their first choice, yet when Vivian Vance was offered the role, she turned it down - - MORE THAN ONCE.Thanks to the persistence of Producer and Co-star Desi Arnaz, she very reluctantly accepted the offer and went on to become a television icon. I can't imagine anyone else in the role of Ethel Mertz.
Her unpublished autobiography, completed shortly before her death in 1979, has been discovered and is currently being shopped around. I read an excerpt and think it would be a terrific read and hope to see it on bookshelves soon.
