PEANUTS AND CRACKER JACK

So the Oakland A's found a place in the playoffs.

Good for them.

Even though I'm a loud and proud New York Yankees fan (and it takes balls to be so loud and proud about that in the Bay Area), I'm happy for my A's loving friends. So happy, in fact, that I'm going to stand up on their behalf and question the ridiculous logic behind management's decision to not remove the tarps that cover up nearly 21,000 seats along the upper tier of the stadium.

An A's executive wrote in an email recently that "The fan experience is better without spreading fans out over more seats. The energy in the park and the fan experience over the last week was incredible," and that keeping those seated tarped creates a "closer, more intimate environment."

Huh? So Lew Wolff (team owner) is turning down the chance to make a few extra dollars in the post-season? Seriously, where did he go to business school?

Management, however, has gone on to say they plan to remove the tarps, should their team go all the way to the series.

Oh well, maybe next year, guys.
