GENERATION GAP

Frank Sinatra was said to have been a huge fan of George Harrison's love song "Something."

Here is his cover of the classic, with arrangement by Nelson Riddle.

  1. I really love that he loved that song, and I love frank sinatra, and I love that song, but I've never liked his take on it. it just feels like a square peg in a round hole for me. like, when he says, "you stick around jack it may show". that's weird. he's addressing the girl and he says "jack". hmmm. and the flow of the song is weird. too much space in the vocals, and he doesn't really sing it with enough caring or heart or love or something. sinatra's great, beatles are great, song is great, but sinatra doing this beatles song just never came together the right way for me.

  2. I love that you love that he loves this song so much. I also agree with your assesement, it's a bit of a fail on sinatra's part but I do like the arrangement.
