PEANUTS AND CRACKER JACK

So, my Yankees only won two of the three games they played against the Detroit Tigers this past weekend, but it's clear this season is going to be an interesting one.

The time Mark Texiera spent in the batting cages during the off-season paid off handsomely, with the three homers he hit during the series. April has traditionally been a slow month for him. Jorge Posada seems to have easily adjusted to his new role as Designated Hitter with great ease, hitting two home runs.

The one to watch, however, is Curtis Granderson. Still playing in the minor leagues on Wednesday, he was flown up for the Thursday season opener (with a strained oblique, no less). As I was watching the first game of the series, it seemed to me that he was playing the field a little too shallow. Still, he made three catches with dramatic flair. Keep an eye on Granderson, he's gonna be a big star.
