With a $50 wager on the table from his publisher, Theodor Seuss Geisel managed to come up with a children's book that is intelligent, terrifically illustrated, encourages kids to read, and he did it all by using just 50 words.
This instant classic turns 50 today.
I was a voracious reader as a kid and I owe all to the first books I owned, one of which was "Green Eggs and Ham."
Thanks, Dr. Seuss.
