TRIBUTE

NetFlix, On-Demand movies, and multi-plex cinemas make movie-going more convenient, but there is a cost.

One of the last single-screen theaters (and one of the oldest, first opening in 1910) in San Francisco, the Clay on Fillmore Street announced yesterday that it is closing for good this Sunday.

This leaves, I believe, The Castro and Bridge theaters as the last two single-screen theaters in San Francisco.

  1. WHAT?!?! that is awful news. I admit it, I live a block from it and have only gone a couple times in 6 years, but love that it's there. This is a major bummer.

  2. yeah. single-screen theaters rock but i understand why they're disappearing. as old-school as i try to be, it's just more convenient to visit the multiplex.
