No, that's not me shaking my fist in the first picture, although I can certainly appreciate the sentiment.
In celebration of the return of $4-a-gallon gasoline, SFGate ran a few photos from the days of the mid 70's oil crisis. Some of the pictures are very amusing.
Oh, and yes folks, that does say .49 cent a gallon (second photo).
