Under suspicious circumstances, the fabled and beloved Sutro Baths, near the Cliff House, burned to the ground 45 years ago today.

My mother learned to swim there! She still has her certificate and button they gave her. It's got like a red-cross type symbol on it; I guess she passed well enuf to be certified or something.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, the right side of the SUTRO'S building in the bottom photo is about where I was standing when the 1989 quake hit.
